Level 2 Award in Operating hand-held pesticide injection equipment (PA6 INJ)

Pesticide stem injection is a method of controlling insects, weeds and diseases. They are effective – but only when used correctly. Using the correct product is vital, making training a key requirement.

This 1-day course will guide candidates through the entire process and prepare them for the level 2 qualification in Operating Hand-held Pesticide Injection Equipment.

Who is it for?

This course is aimed at anyone using, or looking to use, the stem injection method of applying pesticides for the control of invasive species such as Japanese knotweed, Himalayan balsam, giant hog weed. It suits those in industries like agriculture, horticulture, and forestry.

Before attending this course candidates will already have achieved a qualification in Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1)

  • Legislative and safety regulation relating to pesticide injection equipment
  • Assess environmental factors relating to the site
  • Complete an environmental risk assessment
  • Read and interpret product information
  • Prepare and calibrate the pesticide injection equipment
  • Inject pesticides
  • Post operational procedures

  • Applicator – a minimum of one CLEAN applicator is required between two learners (we can provide, if required)
  • Product labels – Learners are encouraged to bring clean examples of product labels, but will be provided with one for training
