Woodchipper – Maintenance and Operation

Woodchippers are useful and powerful pieces of equipment, which have the potential to cause serious harm without the proper training. Our one day Lantra Woodchipper training course will provide candidates with the appropriate operator techniques and safety guidelines to ensure they stay protected whilst using a chipper at work.

  • Legislation and Health and Safety
  • Machine risk assessment
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Woodchipper components, safety features, and machine maintenance
  • Inspect and identify defects on the blades
  • Machine pre-start checks
  • Approved chipping techniques and identify hazardous materials not to be chipped
  • Procedure for removing blockages
  • Safety and environmental considerations
  • Disposal of woodchips and the various end uses of woodchips
  • Prepare machine for transport and storage

  • Helmet (BS EN 397 or BS EN 14052) incorporating:
    • face protection (BS EN 1731 or BS EN 166)
    • hearing protection (BS EN 352)
  • Safety footwear (BS EN 20345)
  • Work gloves
  • Non-snag clothing, suitable for the weather conditions
