Our Use of a Chainsaw from a Rope and Harness course will provide candidates with key knowledge, skills, and practical guidance so they are able to use a chainsaw safely and securely in the trees. Aerial tree work can be very dangerous, so quality training is essential.
Who is it for?
Our Chainsaw from a Rope and Harness training is aimed at those who work in forestry, arboriculture, and conservation industries, who need to operate a chainsaw from up the tree. Candidates will already have their Level 2 qualifications in Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue and Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-cutting and Felling up to 380mm.
Course content
- Legislation, safety and industry guides guidelines
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Hazards, risks and controls associated with the site, task and machine
- Work site considerations including site zoning
- Tree species, condition of trees, and time of year considerations
- Use of top-handled and lightweight rear-handled chainsaws
- Techniques for hauling chainsaws into the tree and attaching appropriately to the harness
- Secure and comfortable work positions
- Anchor points, access and positioning methods
- Appropriate cutting and pruning techniques
- Principles of target pruning
- Duties and responsibilities of a competent ground worker
- Environmental considerations
