Our Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-cutting and Basic Felling up to 200mm training course will provide candidates with the appropriate techniques and safety guidelines to ensure they are confident when using a chainsaw and felling small trees up to 200mm diameter.
Who is it for?
This course is aimed at those who may occasionally use a chainsaw for personal use, to help them learn the basics of non-professional chainsaw use, including safety aspects. This course is not suitable for a professional chainsaw user.
Course content
- HSE legislation and safety guidelines
- Chainsaw maintenance, including daily checks, chain sharpening, and power unit maintenance
- Starting the chainsaw and pre-cutting tests
- Cross-cutting timber
- Chainsaw Basic Felling Techniques (up to 200mm diameter)
- Risk assessment and emergency procedures on a worksite
- Assess and prepare trees to be felled, identifying escape routes
- Fell small trees (diameter up to 200mm) safely and accurately using appropriate techniques
- Branch removal – snedding and de-limbing
- Take down hung-up trees using hand tools
- Clearing site and post-use chainsaw checks
