Level 2 Safe application of Pesticides using Pedestrian Handheld Applicators – knapsack sprayers 

Pesticides are widely and successfully used in land-based industries, but they can be potentially harmful substances, therefore it is essential that they are handled, applied, and stored correctly. This means training is essential. 

It is a legal requirement for those using pesticides at work to have appropriate qualifications. Our PA6A training course in Hand Held Applicators – Hydraulic Nozzle, is delivered by experienced instructors who will guide candidates through the appropriate and safe use of pesticide application, in preparation for their Level 2 City and Guilds assessment. .

Who is it for?

Our one day PA6A training course is suitable for those within the agriculture and horticulture industries who are required to apply pesticides using handheld applicators (knapsacks). This course will help candidates develop their knowledge of health and safety requirements, and prepare them for their Level 2 City and Guilds/NPTC assessment in PA6A.

Before attending this course, candidates must already have their qualification in Safe Use of Pesticides.

Course content

  • Legislative and safety regulations relating to knapsack sprayers
  • Environmental factors relating to mixing and application of pesticides
  • Interpretation of product information
  • Hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment
  • The working principles of a knapsack, including nozzles
  • Preparation and calibration of knapsack
  • Operation of spray applicator
  • Post-operational procedures – decontamination, tank washing, and storage

  • Knapsack applicator – must be CLEAN! We can provide FOC, if required
  • Product labels – Learners are encouraged to bring clean examples of product labels, if possible
