Emergency First Aid at Work
First aid is the crucial, initial care provided for illness or injury until actual medical treatment can be given, if it is necessary. For that reason, it is essential that as many people as possible have basic first aid training. In the workplace, there is a legal requirement for employers to provide equipment, facilities, and qualified personnel to ensure employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or become ill at work.
Our one day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course provides a basic understanding of how to administer emergency first aid, including treating minor injuries and life threatening conditions, enabling candidates to be able to make a real difference to your workplace and the safety of your colleagues.
Who is it for?
This one day course in Emergency First Aid at Work is available to you if you work in any industry, and you need to ensure that you have the relevant training to carry out first aid.
The course ensures that you learn the key techniques in order to administer simple but sometimes life-saving techniques. Once the one day course has been completed you will receive a certificate of training in Emergency First Aid at Work.
Course content
- Role and responsibilities of a First Aider
- Assessing an emergency situation
- Administering CPR and AED use
- Management of unconscious casualties
- Airway and breathing problems
- Dealing with a choking casualty
- Management of seizures
- Wounds and bleeding
- Management of shock
Forestry First Aid (+F)
Those who work in Forestry, or other outdoor industries, are at a higher risk of certain injuries and situations, therefore the Forestry Commission recommends they attend training that includes additional topics relevant to the risks and nature of their work.
Forestry First Aid (+F) can be completed alongside an EFAW or FAW course. the following additional topics are included:
- Life threatening bleeding
- Crush injury
- Hypothermia
- Lyme disease
- Emergency evacuation planning
